Some people search for “strong” CBD hoping for something with THC. Why do strengths vary so much between brands?

There is no standard naming for CBD strength, so one brand’s “extra strong” may be another brand’s regular oil. Some brands quote the total extract rather than the CBD content, and some use larger bottles, which makes percentages harder to compare. That is why the two numbers to look for are the total mg of CBD and the volume of the bottle. From those, you can work out mg per ml and cost per mg for any oil, whoever makes it.

A worked example

Imagine two oils. Oil A: 1500mg CBD in 30ml for €60. Oil B: 2000mg in 10ml for €100. Oil A is 5% (50mg per ml) and costs 4c per mg. Oil B is 20% (200mg per ml) and costs 5c per mg. Oil A is cheaper per mg but needs four times as many drops for the same amount.
