Is CBD legal in Galway? The rules in Galway are the same as the rest of Ireland. CBD itself is not a controlled drug, but THC (the compound in cannabis that causes a high) is controlled at any level, so a CBD product should contain no THC. The often-quoted “0.2% THC is legal” is a myth: that figure relates to which hemp varieties farmers can grow, not the THC allowed in a finished product. CBD foods and supplements also come under EU novel food rules, overseen by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI), and cannot be sold with health claims.
